Wildcat senior Taylor Anderson scores hattrick in 3-0 win over Eden Prairie

St. Paul, MN - The Eagan Wildcats shutout the Eden Prairie Eagles to win the third place trophy at the Minnesota Girls State Class AA High School Hockey tournament Saturday afternoon.  Taylor Anderson scored all three goals with Jenna Ruiz assisting on two of the three and Bella Weaver setting up the game’s first goal.

Anderson capped off her senior year with impressive numbers (32-22-52) and reached the 100 goal and 200 point plateau’s over her playing career this year.  She will be moving north on 35 this fall to attend school and play hockey at UMD.

Ashley Larson earned the win in goal for Eagan (24-6-2) by making 31 saves against and Eden Prairie team that came off an emotional 4-2 loss to Edina in the semi-final round’s last game.  The Third place game is always a tough turnaround for both teams with Eagan and Eden Prairie playing the game as hard as they could.

Julia Berger, Emily Cronkhite, Brooke Peplinski, Lauryn Roszak, and Kayla Vrieze all palyed on the State Class AA soccer championship team from Eagan this past fall.

Eden Prairie goalie Alexa Dobchuk capped off a terrific high school career in goal by making 31 saves for the Eagles (19-11-1).  She holds almost every goalie record in Eden Prairie girls hockey history.  Between Dobchuk and Crystalyn Hengler, the two Eagle captains have played in the state tournament four of the five seasons they played varsity hockey at Eden Prairie.  Hengler is number one in school history in goals by a D  and also top ten in pints and top five in assists.
