Conference to Focus on Techniques, Principles and Programs to Enhance Player Development

St. Paul, MN – June 5, 2018 – Minnesota Hockey announced today it will host a Hockey Director Conference on September 7-9 at the Comfort Inn in Plymouth, MN and the Plymouth Ice Center. The conference, which is designed for hockey directors and player development leaders in youth hockey associations, will provide in-depth training on the techniques and principles that guide world class hockey development programs.

Participants will learn how to best structure their association and offer the most efficient and effective practices for player development through presentations, group discussions and on-ice demonstrations. Adoption of the principles will lead to enhanced skill mastery, growth and retention and players having more fun.

“Minnesota Hockey is excited to offer the Hockey Director Conference in September to our association Hockey Directors who provide the leadership and guidance for our associations to provide the best player skill development for all of their players,” said Dave Margenau, Minnesota Hockey President.  “The conference is a unique opportunity for our hockey skill development leaders to learn from experts as to what others are doing in the world based on the science of athlete development and learn from each other as to what other Minnesota associations are doing.”

The conference will feature local and national presenters, including members of USA Hockey’s American Development Model regional manager team.

“This conference will be a great opportunity for hockey directors from throughout the state to gain a better understanding of the underlying concepts of ADM and how to apply them to decisions and programs for their association,” said John Perry, Vice President of Hockey Operations for Minnesota Hockey. “In addition, we know the player development leaders who attend will also use what they learn to lead and provide training to coaches at all levels in their association. We’re absolutely thrilled to offer this event in Minnesota and are grateful for USA Hockey’s support of it.”

The Hockey Director Conference will also serve as a USA Hockey High Performance Coaching Education Program clinic. Attendees will receive a one level upgrade for CEP certification up to a Level 4.

Registration details for the 2018 Hockey Director Conference will be released at a later date.
